Webdesk, TNI Siliguri 02nd April, 2016: On the eve of World Theatre Day, on 27th March, ‘Theatre Traveller Kolkata’ organised Children Drama Festival at Dr. Sailen Das Memorial Hall (Auro Hall), Dumdum Cantonment. The Stage was lightened up by Guest of Honour Gaston Dayanand (ICOD), Chief Guest Bratya Bose, and other Special Guest like Rudraprasad Sengupta, Swatilekha Sengupta. In the Festival, Nandikar presented ‘Juta Abishkar’(Director-Samrat Bose), ICOD presented ‘Ananda Nagari Theke Bolchi’(Director- Samrat Bose). Children presented their talents by performing these plays. Ananda Nagari Theke Bolchi gives us a message about our awareness of social darkness and overcomes it by enlightening it. They were so organised and well trained. The stage lighting and the stage decoration was good but there was some sound disturbed. Dramatist Sohini Sengupta inspired the children by her performance ‘Dulia’ (Director-Swatilekha Sengupta). This play talked about humanism and art of speech to win the heart. There was also a seminar on ‘Need of Introduction to Drama in School Education’. Brother Gaston says, “Poor and rich harmonized each other in Theatre”. “Theatre is not only the performance but also an exploration. I live daily with Festival of Theatre” says Mr. Bratya Basu. “Children are performing on the occasion of the World Theatre Day; this is the gratification of the festival. Theatre and study fulfilling each other” said Smt. Swatilekha Sengupta. Famous dramatist Mr. Rudraprasad Sengupta addressed the gathering by saying “We must try to give importance the views of children. They are the new saplings; our duty is water them properly and nourishes them. There is no contradiction in learning and theatre.”
